Angry birds
Another form of disruption appears to be occurring in videogames. I find myself entertained by the 99 cent iPhone game Angry Birds. When portable games from Sony and Nintendo costing $20, $30 or more, how does this change the future of gaming? Are prices going to lower (combined with simplified games)?
As for Angry birds, when you complete each level, you can replay to try to get a score high enough to get 3 stars. You get 10,000 points for each bird you don't use, so if you can figure out how to complete a level with birds left over, that's generally your best bet. Easier said than done.
You can find walkthroughs for any level by searching You Tube. This is good if you are stuck and need some ideas, but like any cheat guide it can take the fun challenge away. Having said that, I can sometimes improve on these results, so it is still a challenge to push further.
Here are some hints on certain levels.
Level 6-13
Aim diagonally for the upper-left corner of the top-right shack. You want to get the rock or other object to roll down and get the pig below and to the right. With the 2nd bird, toss at a high angle, and punch down the middle of the right shack. For the left building, hit the wall, and if you're a bit lucky, it collapses on both pigs. 84800 pts. It can be done with just three birds, though if you need to use four, you still may be able to get three stars.
Level 4-15
This can probably be done in many ways. Put the first bird into the cement block and explode the first structure. Second bird, bomb the left support for the middle one. Easy so far, but the next is a bit more tricky. With the third bird, get it between the remaining structures. 90170 pts.
Level 3-21
A black bomb bird needs to drop down the hole, but the aim has to be just right. I like to use the first bird to take out the pig in the rightmost tower; this will give me a guideline to help aim the bomb bird. Take the first bird over the castle and bomb down the hole such that he then escapes and bumps into the tower on his way up and to the right. Now, aim the black bird at a slightly higher arc. He needs to bump the brick near the upper-right of the castle on his way down; this should get the explosives at the bottom. With the third bird, you can take out the two left pigs with one shot - aim at the 2nd pig, but closer to the other one. Put the fourth bird into the castle for maximum damage. 117500 pts.
